The defending Division 1 State Champs continued their run last night in the state tournament with an impressive 76-36 win over L'Anse Creuse High School. Right from the tip the Pilots proved they were ready for this one.  In the opening minutes of the game, Sophomore Phoenix Glassnor scored the first 7 of 9 points for the Pilots as they went up 9-2! The L'Anse Creuse Lancers showed some fight as they did not back down early on. They calmed the early DLS run and battled back to close the gap to 18-16 by the end of the 1st quarter. 

But the Pilots were just getting started.  DLS really started to pick up the intensity on defense in the 2nd quarter which to led to some fast break opportunities and great looks at the basket. The Pilots knocked down five 3's outscoring the Lancers 25-7 in the quarter. Our boys hit the locker room at halftime with a 43-22 lead. 

The Lancers came out in the 3rd quarter looking to cut into the lead, but it was just the Pilot's night to shine. Senior Mike Sulaka started the quarter off with a beautiful baseline drive and dunk which began a Pilot’s 11-2 run.  At this point, there was no looking back! DLS continued to extend their lead throughout the 2nd half and end up winning the game with a dominating 76-36 victory. 

Phoenix Glassnor led the Pilots with 20 pts, while senior Nino Smith had 11 pts and senior Mike Sulaka had 9 pts.  With the win, De La Salle advances to the Regional Finals where they will face off against Grosse Pointe South.  The matchup will take place at Dakota High School this Wednesday, 3/15, at 7 PM.  Good luck, Pilots!
