De La Salle Hires Not-So-New Lacrosse Coach

Warren, Mich.  (Dec 1, 2022) De La Salle Collegiate Athletic Director Dan Rohn has announced that Chris Ferrari has been named the new head coach of the lacrosse program, returning to DLS after twelve years. Ferrari previously coached the Pilots from 2005-2010.

“I have continued to watch the program after leaving in 2010 due to work responsibilities at that time,” Ferrari said.  “I've also maintained some loose connections through the years, via former players and staff.  I'm proud of the program that we had built at the time, and I'm interested to continue to build and develop this organization.  The De La Salle lacrosse community is a family - which is something that I value greatly.”

Coach Ferrari has been involved in lacrosse in Michigan since 1982 as a player, referee, coach, and a league officer.  He has over 15 years of coaching experience from L’Anse Creuse High School (1988), Grosse Pointe South (1989-1991), Troy Athens (1997-2002) where he led them to two state finals, and De La Salle (2005-2010) where he led them to three state semi-finals. Ferrari's overall coaching record is 142-115.

Pilot Hall of Fame Coach and founder of the De La Salle lacrosse program, Mike Jolly, had much to say of the new hire. “I am very pleased that Chris Ferrari is returning to De La Salle.  He is a good man who will be great for the DLS community.  Chris has a genius level ability to break down the sport of lacrosse, game plan, and teach it to his players. I am excited for him to have the opportunity to finish the job he started and return the program to the elite level we all envision. Congratulations to Dan Rohn for spearheading the challenging selection process.”

After speaking with Coach Ferrari it’s clear that he is certainly eager to get started. He’s jumped headfirst into his role by working on staffing and finalizing schedules. But most importantly, Coach Ferrari said that he is “very excited to meet the young men who hope to be part of this team - this tradition”.

Best of luck to returning Coach Chris Ferrari. We look forward to seeing all the good things he will accomplish this year and hopefully for years to come.
