De La Salle Collegiate Athletics Roundup - Weekend of 10/15/22

Football

For those of you who missed the game this past Friday night, our Pilots had came from behind and claimed victory over the River Rouge Panthers with a final score of 19-18. Both teams struggled offensively and went scoreless in the first half. The Panthers put up two scores in the 3rd, and things were not looking good for the Pilots as we trailed 12-0 to start the 4th quarter. With just under 8 minutes to go in the game, senior, Brady Drogosh, connected with senior, Jack Yanichek, for a 37 yard TD reception. The Panthers attempted to put the Pilots away as they scored again now leading 18-7 with just 3:55 left to go.  But, there was no quit in our Pilots.  After a nice return on the kick off, it only took the offense two plays to tighten the score to 18-13 with just 3:25 left.  Drogosh connected with freshman, Damion King, for the TD and things were looking up!  While the Panthers had hopes of running out the clock on the ensuing drive, the Pilots defense came up huge, forcing a punt and leaving the Pilots offence with 1:57 left on the clock.  With only 27 seconds left in the game, Drogosh, once again, connected with the freshmen, King, for the TD to put De La Salle up 19-18! The Pilot’s defense held and completed the gritty 4th quarter comeback!

The Pilots improve to 7-1 on the season and face off against U of D this coming Saturday in the Prep Bowl at Ford Field. The game will start at 4:00 and tickets will be available in the athletic office later this week.

Good Luck, Pilots!
