Varsity 

Detroit U-D Jesuit 61, De La Salle Collegiate 41: Freshman Phoenix Glassnor led all Pilots scorers with 14 points. Additionally, senior Tamario Adley contributed 10 points and seven rebounds. 

The Purple and Gold (10-4, 3-4 Catholic League Central Division) will look to bounce back Tuesday night vs. Coldwater High School. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. at the Bill Fox Gymnasium.

Junior varsity 

De La Salle 63, U-D Jesuit 45: Freshman Armoni Portis scored a team-high 18 points in the De La Salle victory.  

Next up for the Pilots (13-1, 6-1 Catholic League Central Division) is a non-conference tilt with Coldwater High School Tuesday. Tip is slated for 5:30 p.m. at the Bill Fox Gymnasium.   

Freshman 

U-D Jesuit 52, De La Salle 49: The Pilots fought hard throughout the contest, but ultimately fell in overtime to the Cubs. Mason Stempin led the way for De La Salle offensively with nine points, while Spencer Scott was awarded the hardhat for his hard work and hustle on both ends of the floor.

With the loss, the Purple and Gold dropped to 11-2 overall and 5-2 in Catholic League play. 

Next up for De La Salle is a non-conference matchup with Detroit Cass Tech Tuesday. Tip is scheduled for 4 p.m. at the Bill Fox Gymnasium. 

Hockey

Game #1

Flint Powers Catholic 3, De La Salle 2: Seniors Jacob Lawrence and Seaton Heilman each scored a goal and recorded an assist in the Pilots’ first of two contests at the 2022 MIHL Showcase.

Additionally, Heilman, for his efforts, was named the MVP of the game for De La Salle. 

Game #2

Green Bay (Wisc.) Notre Dame de la Baie Academy 6, De La Salle 4: Senior Branden Stabnick scored two goals in game two of the MIHL Showcase for De La Salle (16-4-1). Subsequently, he was named the MVP of the contest for the Pilots. 

Additionally, senior Jacob Lawrence had a goal and two assists, while fellow senior James Sigmon recorded three assists. 

Next up for the Purple and Gold is a matchup with the FNV Griffins Wednesday. Puck is set to drop at 7:15 p.m. at the Saginaw Bay Ice Arena.   

Swimming 

The Pilots, led by head coach Jim Singelyn, ‘90, swam their way to a fifth-place finish in the 2022 Macomb County Championships Friday and Saturday at L’Anse Creuse North High School. A total of 17 teams competed in the county meet.

For the Purple and Gold, senior Max Swiatkowski, a Northern Michigan University commit, led the way with a dominant performance. 

For starters, he recorded a first-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke for the third time in his high school career. He also finished second in the 200-yard individual medley, adding to his impressive day in the pool.

Wrestling

Our Pilots (15-12) competed in the Catholic League wrestling championships Friday night at Catholic Central, with eight-of-12 wrestlers placing.

De La Salle was led by junior Vinny Lertola, junior Nathan O'Donnell and sophomore Joey Montilla. Lertola took home first place at 189 pounds, while O'Donnell placed second at 145 pounds and Montilla placed second at 140 pounds. 

The following Pilots also had strong performances: sophomore Avian Shaba (third place in 125-pound weight class), freshman Mark White (fourth place at 152 pounds), junior Javon Williams (third place at 171 pounds), junior Cody Beleshi (third place at 215 pounds) and junior Jesse Lietzow (third place at 285 pounds). 

Collectively, the Purple and Gold placed third out of 13 teams, falling short of the runner-up position by just two-and-a-half points.

Next up for De La Salle is the MHSAA team district meet Wednesday. It's set to kick off at 5 p.m. at Warren Woods Tower High School.
