The De La Salle varsity soccer program kicked off the 2021 season by hosting a tripleheader Saturday at St. John Baptist de La Salle Field.

The Pilots were victorious in two of the three contests, beating Clinton Twp. Chippewa Valley in the opener, 1-0, and Dearborn Heights Crestwood, 4-2, in the finale. In the middle game, De La Salle tied Rochester Hills Stoney Creek, 0-0.

GAME 1: De La Salle Collegiate 1, Chippewa Valley High School 0 
Junior Michele Pizzo scored on a rebound off a shot from senior Cody Czegus. Junior goaltender Jeremiah Johnson recorded the shutout. 

GAME 2: De La Salle Collegiate 0, Stoney Creek High School 0
Senior goaltender Ryan Golden recorded five saves to earn the shutout. Senior Charlie Freese and junior Zach Femminineo also played well for the Pilots. 

GAME 3: De La Salle Collegiate 4, Dearborn Heights Crestwood 2
Senior Marco Foltz and junior Dean Oakie each tallied two goals and one assist each. Juniors Cameron Kozich and Jacob Dupke each had an assist for the Pilots.  

De La Salle followed up the tripleheader by traveling to Rochester Adams Tuesday. The Pilots (2-1-1) dropped the lightning-shortened contest, 2-0. Meanwhile, the junior varsity-B squad and JV-A team each suffered 2-1 losses at the hands of Adams. 

Next up for the Pilots varsity program is a Catholic League Central Division tilt with Detroit Catholic Central, taking place Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at St. John Baptist de La Salle Field. JV-A will take on the Shamrocks in the game before that, starting at 4 p.m.

Additionally, JV-B will travel to Stoney Creek High School Wednesday. Game is set to kick off at 4:30 p.m.
