De La Salle Celebrates National Signing Day, 15 Student-Athletes Sign with Colleges

Signed. Sealed. Delivered.

It's the case for the 15 De La Salle student-athletes who took part in the school's National Signing Day ceremony Wednesday inside the TARMAC.

It was a special day for these Pilots students, with family and friends, including classmates and faculty and staff, in attendance to witness the event.

“It shows you what our school is all about: the community, the brotherhood, the love and just the respect these guys have for one other,” De La Salle Athletic Director Dan Rohn said. “To have a room like this, with over 200 people in it on Signing Day, it just shows how much these student-athletes’ families and friends appreciate everything they’ve accomplished and support the direction they’re heading in. Today truly was a strong display of what it’s like to be a member of the De La Salle family.”

An array of sports was represented by this Signing Day class, including baseball, football, swimming and track and field.

The student-athletes who signed their National Letters of Intent are as follows:

Eric Anton - Ohio Northern University (baseball)

Will Beesley - Princeton University (football)

Dionte Dandridge - Lawrence Tech University (football)

Noah Dobbs - John Carroll University (football)

Gavin Grzywacz - Northwood University (football)

Seaton Heilman - Kalamazoo College (baseball)

DeNiro Johnson - University of Saint Francis (football)

Carter Kruse - Hope College (track and field)

Brady Lowe - Olivet College (football)

Alton McCullum - Valparaiso University (football)

Tevon Mixon - Independence Community College (football)

Seth Ray - Heidelberg University (football)

Jeffrey Roskopp - Hillsdale College (football)

Devin Schmelter - Lawrence Tech University (football)

Max Swiatkowski - Northern Michigan University (swimming)

Rohn was pleased with not only the number of students that signed with colleges, but also the diverse group of schools that opened its doors to this year's crop of Signing Day athletes.

“I think this strong showing of student-athletes going off to college to advance their educational and athletic careers is a great example of the dedication and commitment these student-athletes and parents have had over the years," Rohn said. "And, it speaks volumes about the type of education our school is providing to these kids, with the broad spectrum of schools that have opened the door to our student-athletes. To me, it says a lot about the quality of our teachers and administration here at De La Salle.”

These 15 student-athletes entered the hallways of De La Salle as boys, and upon graduation in the spring, will leave as young men molded by the Lasallian teachings of the school.

It’s how DLS stays true to its motto: “Builders of Boys. Makers of Men.”
